The CAST TB Campaign
The Uganda Ministry of Health under the Minister Hon Jane Ruth Aceng, started a National Community Awareness, Screening,Testing, Prevention and Treatment of TB and Leprosy (CAST TB) Campaign, in a bid to end the national TB epidemic by 2030. This calls for nation-wide efforts to clean every village of TB disease, by finding every missing person with TB, having them tested and those found with TB putting them on treatment, supporting them to complete their treatment and providing preventive treatment to their eligible close/ household contacts.

The CAST TB Campaign was launched in December 2021 with a 5 day campaign to reach every household in Uganda with TB awareness messages and to engage VHTs (Village Health Teams) to reach every household in their villages through a door to door approach to screen every person in Uganda for symptoms of TB disease.
This 5 day campaign is carried out every six months ( March & September) over the next 3-5 years to ensure that no one is left behind.

The CRATHA-22 Project achieved tremendous results in a period of 4 months by improving case detection and through awareness sessions and working with the health facilities and VHTs to conduct contact tracing.
