The Board

Kuboresha-Africa Limited is in the process of recruiting a prospective Board that will provide oversight to the Management Team at the Secretariat. The Executive Director and Head of Programs who doubles as the Human Resource Manager are part of the Board as General Secretary and Committee Member respectively. The term of the Board is five years and can be renewable depending on value addition by respective Board Members. The Board recruitment criterion involves selection of individuals with integrity and experience in several areas that add value to KUBORESHA-AFFRICA LIMITED (KAL) Vision : these include resource mobilization and health expertise in several diseases. The Board of Directors is the strategic organ of the organization tasked with oversight and works collaboratively with the Secretariat to ensure smooth and professional running of the organization. The Board is accountable to the General Assembly which sits annually and brings all founding members together.

Dr Joseph H. S. Kawuma– Chairperson Board of Directors

Dr Joseph has been at the forefront of ending TB in Uganda. He founded the Uganda Stop TB Partnership in 2005 and worked as Executive Secretary for USTP until 2019, when he became the Patron. He is a consultant for German Leprosy Relief Association. He is a Dermatologist in clinical practice and serves on several prominent boards.

Col. (Rtd) Donald Mugimba -Board Member & Chair (Resource Mobilization Committee)

Retired but not tired, Col Don brings a wealthy of expertise to the governance arm of the consortium. His professional journey began in 1980s as a lecturer in Psychology Department at Makerere University Uganda that was later disrupted by political instability as a result of witch-hunt. This triggered his joining the struggle for liberation in1985 with the National Resistance Army NRA / UPDF where he served in Internal Security Organization up to 2024. In his retirement phase, this led to the onset of his serving as a Member of the National NGO Bureau Board from 2021 todate. He is a Member of the National Citizenship and Immigration Control Board and has been involved in Regional Peace Initiatives i.e. East African Community (EAC) and the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and IGAD, among others.

His academic excellence includes a Masters of Arts Degree in Abnormal Psychology Makerere University, Uganda. Masters of Arts Degree in Intelligence and International Relations, Salford University (United Kingdom) and  Executive Masters Degree in Managing Peace and Security in Africa, IPSS, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Col Don has an acute sense of compassion and resilience that led to his acceptance to participate in the consortium efforts to improve livelihoods. He lives in Uganda with his family.

Zacharoula Srimuangboon (Hara) MPH, BS
Foreign Board Member and Chair of Diaspora Partnerships & Synergies Committee.

Retired Public Health and Tuberculosis Control Professional –Attended university in the USA and then in Thailand, Ms. Srimuangboon studied community health education and health systems development. After completing her undergraduate studies in New York City Ms. Srimuangboon worked as a health educator and HIV counselor for the Research Foundation of State University in New York City, and later on as a disease intervention specialist for the New York City Department of Health where she continued to focus on developing interventions for the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

Significant Achievements Include:
Established PATH’s presence and program in Cambodia 1997.
 Oversaw leadership transitions in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam 2004 and 2005.
 Facilitated the development and expansion of an ongoing bilateral relationship with USAID.
 Developed, managed, and mentored a highly motivated team (2 expatriate and 25 national staff).
 Established PATH’s immunization programming in Cambodia and played key senior leadership roles for
PATH’s ongoing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health.
 Developed the communications strategy for the integration of Hepatitis B vaccine into the expanded immunization program for Myanmar.
 In collaboration with Family Health International (FHI) Cambodia developed, managed, and implemented the communication component of the USAID Funded IMPACT Program.
 Established and maintain trusted working relationships with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, donors, and key collaborating partners.
 In collaboration with the Stop TB partnership developed the ACSM Training Guide. The guide was later adapted and used for global and regional trainings in many regions.
 Led the facilitation of numerous ACSM global, regional and country workshops.
 Developed national ACSM strategies for Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Lao, Mongolia, and Vietnam.
 Played a key role in the formation of the Africa Coalition for Tuberculosis (ACT!).
 Managed all activities including donor and key partner relations for the USAID Regional Development Mission Asia (RDMA) funded project Programmatic Management of Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (PMDT) in 9 countries.
 Demonstrated ability to successfully partner with PATH’s global program leaders and teams for program development and implementation.
 Excellent cross cultural working and interpersonal skills.
 Over the past 16 year period have raised significant new funding for PATH’s programming in Cambodia and the region from donors including: USAID, DfID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, EC/EU, UNICEF, WHO, private foundations, and individuals and corporations. Hara is now retired and living in Thailand where she supports Kuboresha-Africa Limited in resource mobilization as well as partnerships and Synergy building.

Evangelist Prophet Roger Paul K. Rwamushanju– Board Secretary.

Paul is an investigative and Science Journalist with a Bachelor of Mass Communication, an MBA in Media Leadership, MPH in Health Communications and Masters in Global Policy Studies. He is the founder and Moderator of the Afrogate Platform on globalization. Paul is a fellow at CNS and was one of the top international correspondents at CNS Rewind for 2017 and 2018 respectively. in the non-profit public health sector Paul has focused on contributing towards global health advocacy through mobilizing Heads of State, Civil Society, Policy Makers, Private Sector and Vulnerable Communities to ensure their participation and meaningful engagement in health advocacy towards domestic political commitment by Governments in Africa, linking the continent to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. He mobilized Civil Society towards the Civil Society Hearing of June 2018 in New York that ensured meaningful participation of Civil Society in the first ever UN High Level Meeting on TB in September 2018.

Paul started the APITA (Advocacy for Parliamentary Inclusion of TB on the agenda) programme that successfully mobilized Africa Parliaments to endorse the Barcelona Declaration on TB in 2015. He has served on several international boards and committees that include the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the UNITAID Board (NGO Delegation) and he is also a Community Advisory Board Member at the University of California at San Francisco TB Research Advancement Centre. He is currently spearheading integrated service delivery (ISD) that focuses on TB, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Hepatitis B and C, Diabetes, hypertension and cancer. Paul is the Board Secretary and doubles as CEO of the KAL Consortium Africa and and National Coordinator of the KAL Consortium in Uganda.
