Kuboresha-Africa Limited (KAL) is a national advocacy non profit organization and also a Company limited by guarantee with no share capital registered by the NGO Bureau Certificate No: IDNR156154675NB and operating Permit No: INDP0004715NB respectively.
Founded by a family that faced the demise of TB and HIV and decided to start an organization that would help improve the health of the vulnerable and marginalized populations through advocacy communication and social mobilization in TB, HIV, Malaria and non communicable diseases in Uganda and Africa at large. However, as the organization keeps expanding its scope and rebranding the vision and mission keeps changing to adapt to the changing world including various interventions, but TB remains the niche of the cause given the history of TB and HIV among the founders.
It is an organization of the TB/HIV affected and works to promote the meaningful engagement of Civil Society and Communities in all levels of health service delivery. We conduct health advocacy from grass root to policy level working with Parliaments, the Ministry of Health National TB and Leprosy Division, National Malaria Control Programme and the AIDS Control Programme. and other key line ministries to ensure equitable services and universal health coverage that leaves no one behind.
The organization is committed to improving community health and people’s livelihoods through the provision of basic health services in both rural and urban communities with the participation of the people that live in these areas. This is done by our Member Community Based Organizations (CBOs).
Kuboresha-Africa Limited has innovated by forming a consortium to strengthen community ownership to ensure a functional AAAQ framework, robust Community-Led monitoring, and digitalisation from paper-based to electronic-based reporting. The
KAL Consortium is now covering 80 districts with a membership of 1,100 CBOs.
Each of these CBO is recommended by the CAO and CDO in respective districts. The Consortium has disease specific working groups that cover Sexual and reproductive health and rights, widows, TB Champions, climate change and health, social protection, Non Communicable diseases, and People living with HIV/AIDS.
